MY STORY
I love what I do and it makes me so happy to be able to share my passion with others. Since starting as a professional voice teacher in 2009, I’ve been privileged to see so many students discover their natural skills and abilities and reach results they never dreamed were possible. I specialize in teaching young people ages 12-18, and also work independently with adult learners who want to expand their confidence and ability as vocalists. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels, and have been selected for countless state and regional honor choirs, national honor choirs, all-state choirs, leading and supporting roles in musicals, and music scholarships for college.
My background in music began with piano and voice lessons as child, and followed me through my studies at Concordia College in Moorhead, singing under the instruction of Lucy Thrasher and Rene Clausen. In my career as a musician, I have been honored to sing with the grammy-nominated professional ensemble The South Dakota Chorale, and be a featured soloist on several occasions for local choral works, including The Swiss Choral Society. I currently teach in my private home studio, and with the non-profit program sINgSPIRE, which focuses on empowering students who battle cystic fibrosis through weekly video-call voice lessons.

ABOUT LESSONS
My teaching style focuses on skills training, but also emphasizes self-exploration and discovering a passion for something new.
Lessons are taught weekly, in either 30 or 45 minute classes, at a pre-set time each week.
Consistency and commitment are imperative to your success, which is why I structure my lessons in 12-14 week sessions to encourage regular attendance and practice.

My name is Maggie Lynch. I have had the opportunity to study voice under Whitney Werner for the past five years. She has pushed me to be the best voice student that I can be. She has taught me more than just how to sound good on different songs. She has taught me proper breathing techniques and how to apply these to singing. With her guidance, I have made South Dakota Senior Honor Choir both of the years available to me. I also have made South Dakota All State Choir against tough competition. My greatest vocal achievement was being accepted to National Honor Choir. All of these accomplishments are a direct result of my time working with Whitney.
Taking voice lessons has not only made me a better singer, but also it has caused me to get out of my comfort zone. Whitney challenges me to find solo opportunities and to grow from those. I was so shy when I started as an eighth grader, and I have become a confident singer as a senior.
Whitney is a hard-working woman. She has a busy life, yet she makes time for her passion: teaching music. I can see how excited she is about music, and she wants to share this excitement with others. I highly recommend her and encourage people to take lessons from Whitney.
